Victor Valdes has reiterated Gerard Pique’s point that Spain’s best hopes of overcoming Italy on Sunday lie in stopping Andrea Pirlo.
One of the reserve ‘keepers in the Spanish squad at this summer’s finals, Valdes believes that Group C opponents the Azzurri can be stopped if Juventus man Pirlo is looked after.
“Pirlo is a great player, he is one who takes hold of central midfield for Italy,” the Barcelona man told AS.
