William Vainqueur describes a ‘common goal’ at Roma ‘which is to win titles’.

The French midfielder has joined the Giallorossi from Dinamo Moscow, and spoke at a Press conference this afternoon.

“The clubs had been talking for a few weeks,” Vainqueur said of the move.

“I had given my agreement, then the negotiations dragged on, as often happened. I’ll take this opportunity to thank the directors at Roma and Dinamo.

“The Juventus game? It was an amazing feeling seeing the Olimpico bouncing like that, I knew the fans were passionate, but I’d never seen a crowd so dedicated to their team.

“It’s a dream to be here. I hope to win myself a starting shirt, but it’ll be hard, there are great players here.

“Everyone is working for a common goal, which is to win titles.”

Vainqueur then gave Giallorossi fans an idea of what to expect from him, and admits it will be hard to replace the injured Kevin Strootman.

“I’m an aggressive player, who likes to go and win the ball. I’ve played in different roles, but mainly in front of the defence.

“I game through at Nantes, a club famous for its style of play. I want to prove myself. I’ve always appreciated [Olivier] Dacourt and Fernandinho.

“It’s not easy to replace Strootman, he’s a great player. But I’m here to learn and help the team.”
