The Nerazzurri got the better of Rennes thanks to a header from Cesare Casadei, who came off the bench at half-time to change the game.

Giacomo Pozzer had made a decisive save, pushing the Chimuanya Ugochukwu long-range strike on to the crossbar, while Inter threatened a second through Gaetano Oristanio.

Rennes hit the woodwork again in stoppages with Junior Kadile.

Inter made it to the final, but Juventus failed to make the most of a very advantageous situation in their semi-final with Real Madrid.

The Bianconeri had taken the lead after just three minutes with Franco Tongya winning back possession to finish off his own counter-attack.

Real Madrid went down to 10 men on 11 minutes, as Jordi was shown a straight red card for kicking the ball at an opponent who was on the ground.

However, the Merengues scored twice in three minutes, at the 30th and 33rd, to turn the game around with Sergio Arribas and Carlos Gonzalez completing quick team passing moves.

It got even worse in the second half, Juan Latasa skipping past Paolo Gozzi and goalkeeper Alessandro Siano to make it 3-1.
