According to reports in Uruguay, Roma have agreed a deal with Palmeiras worth €11m plus bonuses for left-back Matias Viña.

Sport 890 reporter Gonzalo Ronchi claims the two clubs have shaken hands on the terms of the transfer.

It will be a move worth €11m plus up to €2.5m in various bonuses.

As part of his original move to Palmeiras, his former club Nacional de Montevideo are also due to receive 40 per cent of the fee, so circa €4.4m.

Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia had already pin-pointed Viña as the first choice replacement for Leonardo Spinazzola, who has been ruled out for six to nine months after tearing his Achilles tendon while playing for Italy at UEFA EURO 2020.

The Uruguay international will turn 24 in November and plays primarily as a left-back, although he can also do well in a more advanced role or as a central defender.

Viña was left on the bench for the most recent Palmeiras match, a sign that negotiations were at an advanced stage with Roma.

He had previously also been linked with Milan and Napoli.
