Little has changed in the Serie A standings after Napoli’s 1-1 draw with Torino on Friday evening, as both teams remain rooted to the positions they held coming into the game, in seventh and 10th respectively.

Napoli-Torino was the first match in the 28th round of Serie A fixtures, the rest of which will take place over the course of this weekend, concluding with Lazio’s visit from Udinese on Monday night.

Both Napoli and Torino are one point better off than they were at the beginning of the evening, but both sides could still be overtaken by teams below them by the end of this weekend.

Napoli being held to a draw is particularly good news for Fiorentina in eighth and Atalanta in sixth.

Fiorentina could lift themselves back into seventh with a victory over Roma on Sunday, while Atalanta can not drop any further down the table, regardless of their result against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, also on Sunday.

Torino picking up a point is also relatively good news for Monza and Lazio.

Monza could now jump into the top half with an away win against Genoa on Saturday, while Lazio are now under no threat of slipping below their current position in ninth.

In terms of the Serie A top goalscorers, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is now up to 10 for the season in the league. He joins Inter’s Marcus Thuram. Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, Roma’s Romelu Lukaku and Frosinone’s Juventus loanee Matias Soule, who all have the same tally.

Victor Osimhen was not able to find the net against Torino, so his haul of goals this season still stands at 11, just above the aforementioned attackers. Lautaro Martinez still comfortably leads the division with 23 goals in 2023-24.
