Tammy Abraham is continuing to shine with Roma and he’s close to breaking the record for the most goals scored by an Englishman in a single Serie A season.
The 24-year-old English striker joined the Giallorossi in a deal worth €40m from Chelsea last summer, taking the risk with a move abroad instead of joining the interested Arsenal. This bravery has paid off and he’s now a star in the Italian capital, being incredibly decisive under Jose Mourinho.
As highlighted by Opta, Abraham has scored 15 goals in 29 Serie A appearances this season and he’s just one away from matching the record of most goals scored by an Englishman in a single Serie A season, set by Gerald Hitchens with Inter in the 1961-62 season.
The former Chelsea man, having netted 23 times across all competitions this season, is also the most prolific Englishman across all competitions among those playing in Europe’s top five leagues this campaign.
Only two players have ever scored more goals than Abraham in their debut Roma season – Rodolfo Volk, who netted 21 times in the 1929-30 season, and Pedro Manfredini, who scored 16 goals in the 1959-60 campaign.
