It's a sizeable sum for the 27-year-old Chilean, whose surgery in the summer on a knee issue are still an apparent concern for the Old Trafford side.
Van Gaal will apparently spend the next few months watching Vidal closely, before looking for the Red Devils to take action in the winter market.
