The Turkey international has been linked with Arsenal and Bayern Munich, who will reportedly send scouts to view him on Saturday against Juventus.

“It has been a very difficult period for us and we need to win,” he told the Roma Match Programme.

“Fortunately, we managed to get the victory against Genoa and it’s very important that we continue to improve. That win created more positivity around not just the team, but also everyone around us and the fans.

“It was a show of character, as we were trailing twice, but were able to get back into it and in the end also win the game. The most important thing is to prove Roma are still here.

“Juventus are the best side in Serie A, so we need to prepare well. It’ll also be difficult as they are on home turf, so we hope to put in a good performance. We’ve got to ‘battle’ Juve as a united group, showing strong team spirit.”

Cengiz Under scored a couple of screamers in recent weeks, yet has also missed open goals and tap-ins.

“I seem to find it easier to score difficult goals than easy ones! Evidently it is something I need to work on. I also have to work on my Italian language skills and want to learn English too.

“I feel more important for this team, in good form individually and with more confidence. If we compare the first six months of last year and this year, I am up by five goals and five assists.

“I think with help from my teammates, I’ll be able to improve and do even better.”
