Davide Ballardini’s position at Genoa is reportedly uncertain and the new owners have already contacted Gennaro Gattuso, who turned down the opportunity.

After only one win in five league games, Ballardini’s position at the Grifone is at serious risk and Calciomercato.com reports the match against Sassuolo on Sunday could be crucial for the tactician.

Ballardini was positive to the takeover, as 777 Partners bought 99.9 per cent of Italy’s olders club.

Ballardini: ‘The new owners have excellent intentions’

But a few weeks later the owners are considering changes at Marassi and the outlet claims they have talked to Gattuso.

The former Milan and Napoli coach is without a job after the controversial farewell from Fiorentina this summer.

But the report claims Gattuso listened and thanked them for the opportunity but decided against entering negotiations with the Rossoblu.

Genoa sit 16th in Serie A with five points after seven games, and Ballardini must turn thing around immediately to feel safe in the dugout.
