Francois Letexier has been appointed to oversee Thursday’s Europa League match between Atalanta and Liverpool at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
UEFA has confirmed that French referee Letexier will officiate the Europa League quarter-final second leg between Atalanta and Liverpool on Thursday.
Letexier’s compatriots Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni will be the assistants. Pierre Gaillouste will be the fourth official, and Jerome Brisard and Willy Delajod will oversee VAR.
Despite being still pretty young, the 34-year-old referee already has decent international experience, having taken charge of 13 Champions League matches in his career, including two involving Serie A clubs.
This past October, he was the referee in Inter’s 2-1 victory over RB Salzburg at San Siro, and more recently, he was appointed for Lazio’s 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Round of 16.
His debut in the Champions League group stage came in December 2020, when he oversaw Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against FC Midtjylland. That was the only Liverpool game Letexier had refereed so far in his career.
He also met Atalanta once in La Dea’s 1-0 victory against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League Round of 16 second leg last season.
