The referee halted play for under a minute when racist ‘monkey noises’ were aimed at Sparta player Costa from a section of the visiting fans.
UEFA have announced they’ve opened disciplinary proceedings against Lazio for racist behaviour, illicit behaviour and illicit chants in Thursday’s Europa League tie.
Sparta Prague are also facing disciplinary action for an illicit banner and setting off fireworks.

The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on 22 March.
It’s the second time this season that Lazio have seen their game stopped for racist chanting, as a similar incident occurred in the Serie A match against Napoli.
