UEFA Vice-President Michele Uva has admitted that it is ‘unrealistic’ to expect fans back through the turnstiles before August.
Most European leagues have resumed since the coronavirus lockdown in March, and the onus is now on stadia to be reopened to supporters, with games so far played behind closed doors.
However, Uva told Radio 24 this afternoon: “Having fans at stadia by August is unrealistic.

However, Uva told Radio 24 this afternoon: “Having fans at stadia by August is unrealistic.
“We’re always monitoring what goes on in Europe. Much depends on national governments and it mustn’t be left down to UEFA.
“Wth great responsibility, we’ve preserved the system and proved to be leaders in Europe.
“Without doubt, it was a complex job to get teams back on the pitch, partly because the situation in Europe varied.
“We moved the European Championship back a year to give national leagues the chance to restart.
“Forty countries in Europe have resumed their campaigns, but it hasn’t been normal because it’s been without the most wonderful part, the fans.”
