Russian referee Sergey Karasev will oversee the clash between Italy and Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Wednesday.

Italy host Spain at San Siro in the semi-finals of the European competition, three months after the clash between the two at the Euros this summer.

The Azzurri won the last meeting on penalties and advanced to the Final at Wembley, where they overcame England on penalties to lift the trophy.

Italy have since set a new all-time world record of games unbeaten, leaving behind their opponents in the next game.

The Russian 42-year-old Karasev will be in charge at San Siro, with compatriots Igor Demeshko and Maksim Gavrilin as his assistants.

Dutch referee Pol van Boekel will be in the VAR room, with German referee Christian Dingert as his assistant.

  1. It would be nice for Italy to win, but this is nothing more than a glorified friendly. I would also keep an eye on Switzerland vs N.Ireland, and the key is for Italy to do well in the 2 games in November to ensure they qualify for the World cup as group winner.

It would be nice not to forget where Italy is coming from in 2018, and have the humility that they had during the Euros, without getting over-confident, and that same mentality as the Euros could help them do well in Qatar 2022, it should be one step at a time, qualification for world cup as group winner, then getting into knockout stage first time since 2006, and then each match at a time.
