Inter have been asked to remove several elements from their away kit for the Champions League, including the snake motif.

The jersey was meant to have a snake – the Biscione that represents the club – wrapping around the front to the back.

However, it is nowhere to be seen in the version of the white kit that the Nerazzurri will wear this evening in the Champions League match with Shakhtar Donetsk.

According to the latest reports, UEFA asked for the snake to be removed.

That is not the only change, as the sponsor on the front also now only reads ‘$INTER Fan Token’ without the ‘By Socios.com’ additional text.

It is believed this is because the jerseys contravene the UEFA Equipment Regulations.

“The choice of pattern is unrestricted with the following exceptions (to be assessed at the sole discretion of the UEFA administration):

“the pattern must be non-pictorial, e.g. it must not contain any images, illustrations or any other symbols (any pattern that does not satisfy this requirement will be considered as a decorative element);

“the pattern must not allow a reasonable person to identify a manufacturer or sponsor relevant to the equipment (any pattern than does not satisfy this requirement will be considered a trademark).”

The snake is a general part of the Inter kit this season, as their home jersey has a large snakeskin print covering the blue and black stripes.

The away kit is white with the snake motif along the front and back.

By the looks of the jerseys, the snake has been removed, meaning it was on there and peeled off.

  1. Reminds me of UEFA forcing Ajax to remove the 3 little birds from their beautiful Bob Marley inspired kit. They really have nothing better to do.

  2. UEFA, as with most large corporations, seek to exert control over every aspect of economic production even the exponential degree of absurdity.

    This is simply about comtrol over kit creativity and nothing more. Absolutely nothing of aubstantive value is gained by this totalitarian request/kit design “requirement”.

  3. Well said Vittorio, couldn’t agree more. Controlling aspects for sure. Meanwhile toothless with regards to FFP, racism, Super League, etc.

  4. Thank you UEFA for devoting your time to this incredibly important matter when your hands must be so full with enforcing FFP vs PSG and dealing with racism in European stadia. True heroes…

  5. kinda ironic the greedy blood suckers that is UEFA are complaining prolly cuz theres no money in it for them.

    but on otherside of it, the jersey is ugly, looking like it was drawn up by an 8 year old. i see that with many of top clubs jerseys now. i know its a different jersey every season to mark the uniqueness for the club and fans, but i think they should just recycle all the previous designs of past 30 years/history of club.
