La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Aleksander Ceferin is ‘irritated’ by the new Juventus management, who are still not considering abandoning the Super League, risking a lengthy ban from European competitions.

The Bianconeri are under pressure on home and European soil, having recently received a 10-point deduction for financial irregularities. A new FIGC trial is ongoing and could lead to a further penalty, but UEFA are also analysing the case.

According to Gazzetta, the European football governing body may end their investigation in June and the potential penalty for Juventus could be softer if the new management abandons the Super League.

However, new club directors still haven’t discussed the matter with UEFA, causing the surprise and irritation of President Ceferin.

Juventus, are still formally involved in the Super League alongside La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. Nevertheless, the Catalans’ President Joan Laporta has opened a dialogue with UEFA following the Negreira scandal, while Juventus still haven’t contacted Ceferin.

According to the report, Juventus could receive an extended European ban if they don’t formally abandon the Super League. The Serie A giants are already in trouble because they reached an agreement with UEFA over a breach of FFP, paying a €3.5m fine rather than €19m.

However, the agreement was based on the club’s balance sheets which have been investigated by the Turin Prosecutor, the FIGC and UEFA, so if the ‘real’ figures of their financial statements have been altered Juventus may be found guilty of breaching Fair Play rules, sporting probity and FFP regulations and the only way to soften the penalty and have a shorter European ban would be to speak to UEFA and quit the Super League.

  1. Why abandoning the Super League while UEFA are starting a Super League themselves?! Leave the Champions League as it is…
