Destiny Udogie has scored two goals in four Serie A games this season with Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici enjoying his performances in North London.

The U21 Italy international broke the deadlock against Roma last night in Udinese‘s 4-0 win over José Mourinho’s side.

It was his second goal in four appearances this season, his seventh in 41 Serie A games.

Born in Verona to Nigerian parents on November 28, 2002, Udogie made his U21 Italy debut a year ago and has four caps to his name with the Azzurrini.

He had missed the season opener with Milan on August 13, undergoing his medical with Tottenham in London the following day. Fabio Paratici invested €18m in the promising left wing-back who has remained on loan at the Dacia Arena until the end of the season.

The Italian director secured his signature anticipating several contenders, including his former club Juventus.

“We remained united and hit Roma with counter-attacks,” Udogie told Udinese TV last night.

“It’s an important season for me, I always try to do my best in training. We feel well and we are ready for the next game [against Fiorentina].”

The early signings are promising for Tottenham but, most importantly, for the Italy national team. Udogie is a versatile full-back who can play in a four-man defence or wide in 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formations.

His contribution to Udinese this season goes beyond his two goals. According to Whoscored, the Italian starlet has averaged 3.3 tackles won so far this season and 0.8 interceptions.

Tottenham have made a bargain signing, but every Italian football fan is excited to see how the promising defender develops at the Dacia Arena this season as he is showing the potential to become a regular Azzurri starter in the coming years.
