Tottenham Hotspur purchased Destiny Udogie and left him on loan at Udinese, but his agent confirms ‘Italian clubs are calling’ to discuss another temporary spell at ‘Juventus, Milan or Inter.’

The Italy Under-21 international was picked up for €18m from Spurs last summer and remained at the Dacia Arena for the full season, but it did not go quite as well as hoped.

He struggled compared to the previous campaign, still contributing three goals and four assists in 33 Serie A appearances.

Since then, Tottenham have also parted company with coach Antonio Conte and are changing their tactics under new boss Ange Postecoglu.

“Udogie’s situation is clear,” agent Stefano Antonelli told Sky Sport Italia.

“He is a Tottenham player and we had contact over the last few days because they changed management and the coach will play 4-3-3 rather then 3-5-2.

“Postecoglu is absolutely convinced that Udogie will have space, but the Italian clubs are calling because some feel he needs another step before making the move, perhaps in a top club like Juve, Milan or Inter.”

The matter becomes urgent now because Italy crashed out of the European Under-21 Championship in the group phase, so his season is now over.

It was a bad tournament for Udogie, who gifted a goal in the opening 2-1 defeat to France with his error and was then dropped for the rest of the competition.

“I received a call from the Tottenham technical area today and asked us to confirm the plan, which is to go on tour in Thailand. They guarantee the importance of the player as of today, and we will evaluate everything, but he is a Tottenham player.”
