Udinese midfielder Sandi Lovric has recently given an exclusive interview to The Italian Football Podcast, during which he discussed former and current teammates Destiny Udogie and Lazar Samardzic, as well as revealing his Serie A title predictions and Premier League ambitions.
Lovric is now into his second full season with Udinese, having joined on a free transfer from Lugano, penning a five-year contract, which runs until the summer of 2027.
“When I got the call from Udinese I didn’t think twice. It was an easy choice; the club has a fantastic name in Italian and European football. At this moment it was the perfect next step in my career to come to Udinese and Serie A,” he told the podcast.
Lovric has taken well to life in the top flight, featuring in all-but-one of Udinese’s Serie A matches last season, chipping in with five goals from the middle of the park in the process.
At Udinese, Lovric has seen first hand the number of exciting talents coming through the club’s ranks in recent years. Among them are current Tottenham full-back Udogie and Juventus-linked Samardzic.
“I think Lazar has already shown his massive talent on the pitch. He is of course still young and still has time to improve to show even more of his talent,” Lovric said of his colleague.
He continued: “But when he has the ball at his feet you can see the quality and the feeling on the ball, this is something special.”
“Udo has a crazy, crazy quality. We already saw here in Udine, when you can train with players like this every day you can see the quality, the technique, the strength, the power that he has.”
“I’m really happy for him that he is showing this in the Premier League. Of course, I am watching the games, Tottenham have until now had an incredible season and are playing incredible football. But you saw also already here at Udine immediately that he is on another level.”
Later on in the recent episode, Lovric revealed his predictions for the 2023-24 Serie A title race.
“Very difficult to say, but I think Inter are the favourites in this moment,” he said.
Lovric also disclosed that he would one day love the opportunity to represent a club in the Premier League.
“Of course, I think the Premier League is an aim for all players for sure. It is the best league in the world, everybody knows you have to be very good to be there and work very hard to get there.
“I am 25 years old now, but I hope that one day I can join a club in the Premier League for sure.”
