Mikel Arteta insists there are ‘no updates’ on Udinese target Hector Bellerin, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, getting the Spanish defender is ‘not an impossible dream’ for the Friulani.

Udinese are looking for a replacement for Brandon Soppy, who has completed a move to Atalanta.

Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport claim the ex-Betis loanee is a top target for the Friulani who are on good terms with the Gunners.

This is why the deal is not impossible for Andrea Sottil’s side despite Arsenal’s demands and the player’s salary. Bellerin took a pay cut to join on loan Betis last season but still earned €3.5m in Spain.

If Udinese are to get Bellerin on loan, the 27-year-old would need to extend with Arsenal for one season, given that his current deal runs out in 2023. The Premier League side sent Pablo Marì on loan to Udinese for six months in January.

More developments are expected in the coming days as Arsenal boss Arteta confirmed today that there are ‘no updates’ regarding the future of the Spaniard.
