The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has long been on the agenda for the Zebrette, who failed in a late bid to bring him in last summer.

The former Siena man joined the Sicilians in 2015 from Croatian club Rijeka and scored three goals in 33 appearances during the previous campaign.

However, the Rosanero will spend another season in Serie B after a 20-point deduction deprived them of promotion to the top tier.

The 31-year-old’s wife Ivana announced her husband’s departure from Sicily in an Instagram post a few days ago, with the caption ‘Grazie amici’ and the hashtag #cimancherete – translating to ‘we will miss you’.
