Multiple reports claim Udinese have sacked Andrea Sottil calling Gabriele Cioffi back to the club.
Several sources in Italy, including Gazzetta, DAZN and Fabrizio Romano, claim Udinese have decided to part ways with Sottil after failing to win any of the opening nine games of 2023-24.
The Friulani have earned six points so far and collected a 1-1 draw against Lecce on Monday.
Cioffi, a former Italian defender and an ex-Udinese coach, has been recalled to the Bluenergy Stadium and will be announced as Udinese’s new coach today.
According to Gazzetta, club directors are disappointed by results across 2023 as Udinese have only won five games since January, including two against Sampdoria and one against Cremonese, who were relegated to Serie B last season.
Cioffi was named Udinese’s head coach for the first time on November 8, 2021, after spending a few months as Luca Gotti’s assistant.
He remained in charge until the end of the season, ending in 12th with 47 points.
