Udinese director Pieropaolo Marino confirms many ‘important European clubs’ have approached Gerard Deulofeu but insists the Bianconeri are not in talks with Roma.

The Spanish striker starts on the bench against Sampdoria at Marassi today. He has attracted interest from Aston Villa and Roma with the Giallorossi looking for a potential replacement for Nicolò Zaniolo.

“I have to answer questions about this every week,” Marino told Sky Sport Italia.

“For now, his agents have resisted approaches from important clubs around Europe. I have to say that there are no serious negotiations with Roma, but I confirm interest from other European clubs.”

Deulofeu’s agent revealed last week that Aston Villa had approached the ex-Milan and Barcelona striker.

“The owners’ desire is not to sell our players in January, but we know that scenarios can change, there are many things to consider,” added Marino.

The Bianconeri would like to extend with Deulofeu, but Marino insisted that the situation is ‘evolving.’

Deulofeu has scored 18 goals in 67 appearances with Udinese. He moved to the Dacia Arena in October 2020 from Watford, also owned by the Pozzo family. The 28-year-old’s contract expires in June 2024.

Deulofeu is a product of Barcelona academy and has also played for Everton and Sevilla.
