Udinese are reportedly ready to pounce for Genoa outcast and Empoli target Gianluca Lapadula.

Empoli were described as being at the front of the queue for Lapadula only last week, but ItaSportPress claims Udinese have since shown an interest in the 28-year-old.

Furthermore, the website believes the former Milan striker would prefer to kickstart his career with the Zebrette as opposed to the Tuscan outfit.

Big things were expected of the 28-year-old when he arrived from San Siro in the summer of 2017 but despite his loan turning permanent for €11m, the emergence of Krzysztof Piatek and Christian Kouame has seen him play just twice this season.

Lapadula has also not featured in a matchday squad since throwing his shirt during the Grifone’s 2-1 defeat to Torino on December 2.

One destination that can be ruled out is Olympique Marseille after it came to light that Rudi Garcia’s side had turned down the chance to sign him.
