Udinese played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with their satellite club Watford at Vicarage Road.

As part of their pre-season preparations, the two clubs owned by the Pozzo family faced off against each other.

There were numerous players who had represented both teams in their careers, while the Hornets manager is ex-Chievo, Siena and Palermo Coach Giuseppe Sannino.

Bruno Fernandes was unlucky not to open the scoring for the Italians, as his volley smacked against the crossbar and Gomes did well to parry Antonio Di Natale on the rebound.

Andrea Stramaccioni’s Udinese took the lead after 22 minutes with Widmer getting his head to a Bruno Fernandes assist.

After the break Di Natale, Luis Muriel and Lewis McGugan threatened, but Watford got back on track thanks to McGugan’s fantastic free kick from 25 yards out.

Ex-Chievo striker Cyril Thereau restored Udinese’s advantage only for ex-Friuli forward Mathias Ranegie to nod in another equaliser on Diego Fabbrini’s cross.

Watford could even have won it at the death, but Ranegie misplaced his pass to Odion Ighalo after going round Simone Scuffet.
