Udinese have announced that Cameroon international Enzo Ebosse will be out for the rest of the season after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

The 23-year-old defender joined Udinese last summer from Angers SCO for €4m and had been a regular with 22 appearances between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

He hobbled off in tears just 17 minutes into the 3-1 defeat to Inter at San Siro on Saturday evening.

It is now clear why, as Ebosse was diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

He will go under the knife at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome on Monday, performed by specialist Professor Mariani.

This type of injury generally requires at least six months out of action.

There is at least some good news for Udinese, as Ebosse was replaced against Inter by Adam Masina, making his comeback after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee back on August 31.
