Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino has clarified his comments on Rodrigo De Paul, admitting the move to Atletico Madrid ‘is on the home stretch.’

He had spoken earlier today and raised some doubts over the deal, suggesting there were also other clubs involved and a “considerable gap” between the offer and demand.

However, Marino clarified the Udinese position on Argentina international De Paul.

“The deal is not closed yet, but it is on the home stretch,” Marino told Tutti Convocati.

“At the moment, we are still talking about a great Udinese player. It’s only right that at the age of 27 he wants to leave for a new experience and when he does, we’ll be ready to replace him.”

The agreement with Atletico Madrid is practically done for €35m plus €3m in performance-related bonuses.

De Paul has also agreed personal terms, with a contract worth €3.5m per season.
