Watford have reportedly secured Canada international Ismael Kone from Montreal, but the plan is for him to join Udinese in the summer.

The two clubs are both owned by the Pozzo family, so are regularly exchanging players on loan and transfer deals.

Sky Sport Italia claim this synergy is in progress for the 20-year-old Canadian midfielder, who played all three group games as a substitute in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

It is reported the deal is done to bring Kone to English club Watford in the January transfer window.

The plan then would be for him to make the switch to Serie A and Udinese over the summer of 2023.

He had already been linked with another Italian club in the form of Torino.

Kone only joined Montreal CF in August 2021 from Saint-Laurent.

So far this season, he has played 26 MLS games, contributing two goals and five assists, and found the net in the MLS Cup Playoffs too.
