Napoli’s Champions League clash against Rangers has been pushed back by a day to September 14 as a result of policing and organisational concerns.

The Premier League and Championship both called off this weekend’s fixtures as a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth II, who sadly passed away earlier this week, and next week’s Champions League schedule has now been affected as well.

As announced by UEFA, the Champions League clash between Rangers and Napoli has been postponed by 24 hours to September 14 due to policing and organisational concerns regarding the match.

Tottenham also announced on their website that their Champions League tie with Sporting Lisbon had been postponed, but they later apologised for the “technical error”, confirming that the game will go ahead as planned.

Napoli will only have to wait an extra 24 hours to face Rangers, a match they’ll be desperate to win after their electric 4-1 victory over Liverpool in their opening fixture.

Away fans have been banned from attending both legs of the tie, so no Napoli fans will be allowed to attend the clash in Scotland and vice-versa in Italy.

  1. Farcical decision. 2 minutes silence, black armbands and the national anthem before each game would have been sufficient at the weekend for UK games. As for Napoli‘s CL game at Ibrox – it’s clear Scottish Police don’t trust the Napoli fans to behave, it’s got absolutely nothing to do with lack of Police, like 1 day is going to make a difference. Ridiculous.

Meanwhile pubs and clubs will stay opened so we can get wasted. Bravo
