Milan prepare for the decisive match against Liverpool tonight, but a win might not be enough to see them through to the next phase. Check out the required results for the Italian teams ahead of the decisive fixtures in the Champions League.

All four Italian teams are in with a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages in the prestigious competition, as Inter and Juventus are already through to the next phase.

Champions League | Probable line-ups: Real Madrid vs. Inter

Juventus picked up four consecutive wins before losing to Chelsea in the fifth round. Juventus can still finish first in the group but need Chelsea to drop points against Zenit St Petersburg in the last match.

The Old Lady is tied with Chelsea at 12 points, but the 4-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge gives the Blues an advantage. A win against Malmö FF in the last match could help the Bianconeri finish above the Londoners, if they drop points against the Russians. A draw could be enough for Juventus, if Chelsea lose in St Petersburg.

Inter are playing for the top spot and an advantage in the draw for the round of 16 when they travel to Madrid today, as Los Blancos are currently first due to their win at San Siro in the first round.

A win would see Inter surpass Los Blancos in the table, but anything less than three points would keep Carlo Ancelotti’s team above the Nerazzurri, who are already through to the last 16 for the first time in 10 years.

Champions League | Probable line-ups: Milan vs. Liverpool

But the other two have everything to play for and Atalanta need a win against Villarreal to qualify for the last 16 of the competition.

The two teams have a direct clash in the battle for second behind Manchester United in Group F, and only a win will be enough for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men to advance.

Villarreal have picked up seven points in five games and sit one above Atalanta, who risk losing out on a place in the Europa League too, if Young Boys pick up three points against United in their trip to Old Trafford.

Milan have a more complicated route to the next phase of the knockout stages, as a win against Liverpool might not be enough for Stefano Pioli’s men.

Three points in the home game against Jürgen Klopp’s men are needed to keep the hope alive, but FC Porto must drop points against Atletico Madrid too.

A draw between Porto and Atletico would be enough, if Milan win against Liverpool. A draw won’t be enough for Milan, as only one point separates the three teams, with Porto sitting one point above both the Rossoneri and Atleti.

Atletico Madrid can help Milan by winning the match in Portugal, but the only option for Pioli’s men is to pick up three points against the Reds. Milan’s future in Europe depends on tonigth’s results, as they can finish second, third or bottom in the table.

Third place in Group B would hand them a place in the knockout stages of the Europa League.
