Six Serie A clubs have discovered their fates in their respective European competitions and Apollo Heyes of Football Italia has rated the difficulties of their quarter-final clashes.

Champions League

Inter vs Benfica – Simone Inzaghi’s side dispatched Portuguese outfit Porto 1-0 on aggregate in their Round of 16 tie and now they’ll be gearing up for another trip to the Iberian peninsula, although this time they’ll be facing a much more threatening team, Benfica.

Roger Schmidt’s side have looked incredibly strong this season and have only dropped points three times in the Primeira Liga this campaign, putting them on 65 points after 24 matches. In the Champions League, they held Paris Saint-Germain to two 1-1 draws and secured two victories over Juventus, allowing them to progress to the knock-out stages undefeated.

A 7-1 aggregate thrashing over Club Brugge followed in the Round of 16, putting the wind in their sails ahead of their tie with Inter.

Difficulty rating: 8/10

Milan vs Napoli – An exciting draw sees the defending Serie A champions Milan face off against the next holders of the crown, Napoli. The two teams obviously know each other well and will be desperate to get the edge of the European stage, where they could face fellow Italian side Inter in the next stage.

The two teams have met just once so far this season, a match where the Partenopei secured a 2-1 win back in September. Luciano Spalletti’s side will be confident of reaching their first ever Champions League semi-finals, but first they’ll have to eliminate a resilient Rossoneri.

Whilst Napoli have looked dominant throughout their Champions League campaign this season, Milan have looked a little shaky and were thankful to draw a Tottenham on the decline in the Round of 16.

Difficulty rating for Milan: 8/10

Difficult rating for Napoli: 4/10

Europa League

Juventus vs Sporting – It’s fair to say this will be a season to forget for Juventus, amidst their various off-pitch difficulties, frustrations with injuries and miserable Champions League exit. Massimiliano Allegri’s side could find a modicum of redemption in the Europa League, however, where’ll they face off against an inconsistent Sporting.

The Portuguese side also suffered elimination from Europe’s premier club competition this season, finishing third in their group behind Tottenham and Eintracht Frankfurt. Some confidence on the European stage was restored after their nail-biting Round of 16 win over Arsenal and they’ll be hungry to repeat this work against the Old Lady.

Difficulty rating: 6/10

Feyenoord vs Roma – Despite their presence in the Europa League, Feyenoord have been one of the strongest Dutch teams this season, losing just once in 25 outings in the Eredivisie to put them top of the table.

Arne Slot’s side edged out a first place finish in their Europa League group, picking up wins over Lazio and Sturm Graz, and flew to a thrilling 8-2 aggregate win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Round of 16, setting up a tough task for Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

The Giallorossi have been as chaotic as usual this season but still remain in the thick of the top four race in Serie A and they secured a 2-1 aggregate win over RB Salzburg and a 2-0 aggregate win over Real Sociedad in their European knock-out games this campaign.

These two teams met in the Europa Conference League final last season, which Roma won 1-0, so Feyenoord will be desperate to take some revenge in their quarter-final clash.

Difficulty rating: 8/10

Conference League

Lech Poznan vs Fiorentina –  The Viola have been somewhat of an enigma this season, looking widely inconsistent in Serie A under Vincenzo Italiano, leaving them 11th after 26 matches. Things have been much more positive on the European front, however, with wins over Sivasspor, Braga and Hearts.

The Kolejorz won the Ekstraklasa last season but have been unable to replicate that form this campaign, meaning they’re just third in the table and sit 18 points behind Raków Częstochowa. In the Conference League, the Polish side finished second in their group behind Villarreal and squeezed past Bodo/Glimt in the play-offs before finding a 5-0 aggregate win over Djurgårdenin the Round of 16.

Fiorentina will be confident of their chances against Lech Poznan and have every right to dream of a possible run to the Conference League final.

Difficulty rating: 3/10
