Gigi Di Biagio has called his first Italy squad of the new Under-21 era for a friendly against Hungary, including Alessio Romagnoli.

The Azzurrini begin a new two-year spell leading up to the 2018 European Under-21 Championships.

They face Hungary in a friendly in Telki on August 12, then host Slovenia in a qualifier at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia on September 8.

Among those included are Roma defender Romagnoli, who is likely to be named captain, Marco Benassi of Torino and Fiorentina striker Federico Bernardeschi.
