Teenage Juventus midfielder Fabio Miretti has been called up to the Italy Under-21 side ahead of crucial European Championship qualifiers against Luxembourg, Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.
The 18-year-old was promoted to the senior Juve squad in the final weeks of the campaign by coach Max Allegri, who was impressed enough to give him six Serie A appearances, including four consecutive starts to close out the campaign.
Miretti also caught the eye of Italy Under-21 coach Paolo Nicolato, who poached him from the Under-19 squad ahead of the European Under-21 Championship qualifiers.
Monza defender Lorenzo Pirola also joined the Azzurrini at their training camp today, having been given an extra two days off following the Serie B promotion play-off against Pisa.
Italy will visit Luxembourg on Monday June 6, then face Sweden in Helsingborg on Thursday June 9 before closing the qualifying campaign by hosting the Republic of Ireland in Ascoli on Tuesday June 14.
