It means their only chance of reaching the semi-final is to be the best runners-up out of the three groups.

Gigi Di Biagio’s men could’ve been ruled out today, but Austria drew 1-1 with Germany and Denmark only defeated Serbia 2-0.

If it had been by three clear goals, Italy would’ve been bumped down the rankings.

It means Germany and Spain are already in the semi-finals and there are two spots to be assigned.

However, it all goes down to Monday’s match, as if France and Romania draw, both of them go through on seven points, one as group winners and the other as best runners-up.

If Romania win, then the Azzurrini will be qualified, but if France were to win, it’d have to be by three clear goals.
