Italy U21

Carnesecchi 6 – True, he didn’t catch the pass leading to Botheim’s goal, but he made at least two key saves in the second half keeping the Azzurrini alive.

Okoli 4.5 – Stared at Botheim scoring the opener without doing much.

Lovato 5 – Saw his Salernitana teammate Botheim find the net in the second half and wasn’t in the best position to intercept the ball.

Scalvini 4.5 – Was in no man’s land when Norway scored the opener. (76’ Cancellieri N/G)

Bellanova 5.5 – Was understandably tired and not as effective as in the previous two games. (71′ Cambiaso 5.5 – Didn’t seem fresher than Bellanova.)

Rovella 5.5 – Made a key interception inside Italy’s box in the first half, but also wasted a potential chance later on with a poor first touch. Not too happy when he was subbed off. (71′ Miretti 5 – Seemed to panic when he had the ball.)

Tonali 5.5 – His passes were always spot on, he was dangerous on set pieces but he also lost intensity in the second half.

Ricci 4.5 – Collected a yellow card early in the second half and looked exhausted after a demanding season. Didn’t show the quality he has at Torino.

Parisi 5.5 – Once again replaced Udogie on the left flank and was impressive in the final third, especially in the first half, but not so much defensively. The Empoli defender was dribbled in the build-up to Norway’s goal.

Pellegri 5 – Way too static. He has physical strength but didn’t use it wisely. (62′ Colombo 5.5 – He fought hard but didn’t get what he wanted.)

Gnonto 5.5 – The Leeds forward brought unpredictability to Italy’s final third, but could have been more effective early in the first half when he waited for too long before shooting from inside the box. Picked up a knock later on, but slowly recovered. (62′ Cambiaghi 6 – At least he tried. Truly unlucky when he hit the crossbar.)

Coach: Nicolato 5 – Italy collapsed in the second half, like against Switzerland, despite having space to score when Norway pushed for the second. It was probably his last dance as the Azzurrini’s boss.

Norway: Klaesson 6.5; Sebulonsen 6.5, Heggheim 7, Daland 7, Wolfe 6 (81 Kamanzi N/G); Evjen 6 (58 Nusa 6), Kitolano 6.5 (80 Zafeiris N/G), Hove 6, Ceide 6 (70’ Sahraoui 6); Jatta 6.5 (58 Bobb 6.5), Botheim 7.

Referee: Erik Lambrechts (BEL) 6.5 – Conducted the game with personality.

  1. same problem we have no one who can score took this game to lightly players thought they won before they got on the pitch

  2. Italy seem to lack conditioning. Almost all the teams for italy have the same problem in 2nd half or when they get deep into tournaments. They really need to start focusing on conditioning and longevity.
