Italy U21 make their debut at the European Championship tonight against France with Sandro Tonali and Giorgio Scalvini expected to start.

U21 coach Paolo Nicolato is expected to use a 3-5-2 formation with the man of the moment, Sandro Tonali, starting in the middle of the park with the captain’s armband. The Rossoneri star is close to joining Newcastle for over €70m.

Atalanta centre-back Giorgio Scalvini will start in defence while Destiny Udogie will get the nod on the left flank.

Lorenzo Colombo and Nicolò Cambiaghi will be Italy’s men up front.

Milan defender Pierre Kalulu will start for France as a right-back in a 4-3-3 formation.

Italy are in Group D with France, Switzerland and Norway.
