Spain have won the 2019 European U21 Championships, beating holders Germany 2-1 in the Final, with Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz on target and named Player of the Tournament.

La Rojita gained revenge for the 2017 Final and have now equalled Italy as the most successful nation in the tournament’s history with five trophies.

Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring with a left-foot scorcher from distance, while Dani Olmo doubled their tally after the break.

Germany did get one back with a remarkable long-range strike from Nadiem Amiri that dipped over the helpless goalkeeper, but it was too late to make a difference to the outcome.
