Carmine Nunziata’s Italy are on the cusp of glory as they prepare to battle it out again Uruguay in the Under-20 World Cup final.
The match between la Celeste and the Azzurrini kicks off at 22:00 UK time at the Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona in La Plata.
Italy have shined at the U-20 World Cup in Argentina, winning five of their six matches, netting 16 goals and conceding nine. After the senior team’s failure to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar last year, Nunziata’s side have shown that the future looks bright for the Italian national team.
Italy edged out a tense 2-1 win over South Korea in the semi-final, taking them to the final, where they’ll face an impressive Uruguay side.
Uruguay have also won five of their six outings at the U-20 World Cup, only losing to England 3-2 in the group stages. They reached the final after squeezing past an Israel side brimming with potential in the semi-finals, picking up a 1-0 win.
