Two Serie A sides are particularly interested in pursuing a deal for unwanted Juventus forward and Italy international Federico Chiesa, according to Sunday’s reports.
The 26-year-old is not in Thiago Motta’s plans heading into the 2024-25 season, and the former Fiorentina forward was subsequently left out of the first team squad for Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Brest.
Thiago Motta later confirmed that he had omitted Chiesa ‘for transfer reasons’.
Worryingly for Chiesa, he now needs to find a new club, or risk sitting out the entire season until his current contract expires next summer.
And, with fewer than 30 days remaining of the transfer window, there isn’t a particularly long list of clubs queuing up for his signature, even if Juventus are prepared to drop their asking price.
Which two clubs could move for Chiesa?
Multiple outlets report that both Napoli and Inter could provide Chiesa with an escape route from Juventus.
Tuttosport and La Repubblica both claim that Napoli could be interested, and that Juventus could also be keen for a form of swap deal involving current Partenopei forward Giacomo Raspadori.
Inter are also keen on a low-cost deal for Chiesa. Tuttosport suggest that Simone Inzaghi’s side are prepared to wait for the player to become available as a free agent next summer, while La Reppublica claim they would be ready to submit a cash offer if they move on Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa first.
The opportunities elsewhere at the top of Serie A remain few and far between. Roma had been keen on a deal earlier this summer, but they later turned their attention in the direction of Matias Soule. Daniele De Rossi also has Paulo Dybala at his disposal, so Chiesa is no longer a priotity for the Giallorossi.
Milan are also set, for now. The positions behind the centre-forward are currently occupied by Rafa Leao, Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze, and the bigger priority is finding an alternative striker to compete with Alvaro Morata.
Some have suggested a Fiorentina return as a possible solution for Chiesa. La Viola may need to find a replacement for Nico Gonzalez, who has been linked with a switch to either Juventus or Atalanta.
Get rid of lotus crumbly cheeky biscuit and Captain Porca ‘Poolsick’, and bring Chiesa in.
It’s never Milan!
He’s Italian so of course AC Milan don’t want him…
He’s need to go to Atalanta gasp would do wonders for him
@paolo exactly.
He’s Italian so most Seria A clubs won’t sign him.
VERGOGNA!
Che vergogna che nessuno in Italia prende Chiesa! Ma chi è meglio di Chiesa? Pulisci? Weah? Thuram? Ma stiamo scherzando!!!
Spero che si trova col Napoli o Fiorentina!
@Rosario hater…. Pulisic was the best player last year…bozo
I think Chelsea would have suited him. If he wants to stay in Serie A, Inter is probably the best option. But I’ll have to admit, Motta is quite smooth brained if he wants their best forward to leave.
