Inter hope to see Marcelo Brozovic return to action before the World Cup, but according to Il Corriere Dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are furious with Croatia for the way they handled the issue.

The 29-year-old suffered a flexor injury while on international duty. He was subbed off in the first half of Sunday’s 3-1 win over Austria and is expected to remain out of action for up to a month.

Inter are understandably annoyed as they’ve lost one of their key players for a considerable long spell. Il Corriere dello Sport reports that how the Croatian FA managed the issue has upset the Serie A giants even more.

Inter reportedly didn’t like that Brozovic was involved in Croatia’s first game against Denmark for 90 minutes despite not being 100% fit. Brozo played against Udinese before the break but hadn’t taken part in the training match before the Dacia Arena clash because of muscle fatigue.

The Nerazzurri believe the Croatian FA should have preserved their midfield star but, on the other, hand Brozovic started both games with his national team.

According to the report, Inter didn’t even like the announcement released by the Federation to confirm the player’s injury.

They claimed that Brozovic would be forced to the sidelines for ‘several weeks’ almost as if they wanted to warn Inter not to rush Brozovic’s return to action, weeks before the World Cup.

In the meantime, the Nerazzurri star has already returned to Milan, where he will begin treatment, undergoing further medical examinations in the coming weeks.

He would have missed the upcoming game with Roma anyway due to a suspension, and new signing Kristjan Asllani is expected to replace the Croat against José Mourinho’s side on Saturday.
