Nicolò Barella and Gianluca Scamacca were not working with the rest of their Italy teammates in the opening 15 minutes of a training session at Coverciano on Monday.

Inter midfielder Barella and Atalanta striker Scamacca were absent in the opening 15 minutes of an Italy training session on Monday, the eve of an international friendly against Turkey.

Scamacca had arrived at Coverciano in the morning after playing the last game of the season against Fiorentina on Sunday. He was joined by Federico Gatti who replaced the injured Giorgio Scalvini and Francesco Acerbi.

Five Azzurri legends visited the team on Monday. Alessandro Del Piero, Francesco Totti, Roberto Baggio, Gianni Rivera and Giancarlo Antognoni. The ex-No. 10 spoke to the team before a training session, so all Italy players trained with shirts with the No.10 printed on their chests and at the back.

Scamacca is not expected to start against Turkey on Tuesday as coach Luciano Spalletti said Mateo Retegui would get the nod up front at the Dall’Ara.

Barella, on the other hand, is one of the candidates to be Italy’s No.10 at the Euros.
