José Mourinho is making headlines with his touchline run after Roma‘s win against Sassuolo and fans are going wild on Twitter using the hashtag #Mourinho1000.

The Giallorossi are on top of the Serie A table with Milan and Napoli after the first three games in Serie A.

Mourinho took charge of his 1,000th game as a coach against Sassuolo on Sunday, securing a 2-1 win thanks to a late Stephan El Shaarawy’s goal.

The Special One’s celebration has become viral in just a few hours as the Portuguese galloped down the touchline to hug his players under the Curva Sud.

The three points mean even more to Mourinho, who admitted he was ‘afraid to lose’ his 1,000th game as a coach.

“It was a match with a special number for me, which until the last day of my life I will always remember this was the 1,000th game. I was terrified the eternal memory would be of a defeat,” he told DAZN after the match.

Thousands of football fans are now commenting on Mourinho’s iconic celebration on social media using the hashtag #Mourinho1000.

Roma paid tribute to their coach on their Italian and English accounts and even the Premier League’s official account posted a few tweets about the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur coach.

  1. Manchester United would not back him even with his record. They gave the purse strings to a manager with no ecperience. No Manchester United fan ever questions the madness of it. Why success is unwanted because you are the special one….. I will never undestand it.

Mr. Mourinho is a Fabulous Man. Fabulous Leader. Fabulous Professional.
