Frenchman Clement Turpin has been appointed as the referee to take charge of the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier between England and Italy at Wembley on Tuesday evening.

Turpin will be assisted by an all-French team of officials on the night, composed of linesmen Nicolas Danos and Erwan Finjean, fourth official Ruddy Buquet and VARs Jerome Brisard and Pierre Gaillouste.

At 41 years of age, Turpin is already among the most experienced referees on the continent, having taken charge of 269 matches in Ligue 1, 44 in the Champions League, 23 in the Europa League and 32 games at international level.

Among the most notable of those matches were the Europa League final between Villarreal and Manchester United in 2021, as well as the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool the following season.

Italy have won two of their three matches when Turpin has been involved, however the Frenchman was the man with the whistle for the infamous 1-0 loss against North Macedonia in the World Cup qualification play-offs.
