Juventus have never won away so far this season, but the Bianconeri hope today’s Turin Derby will be a turning point for them, as it happened in 2015.
Massimiliano Allegri’s men prepared for today’s derby on training retreat, which the coach imposed after a 2-0 loss against Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League.
Their defeat on Israeli soil could cost them a spot in the Round of 16, but things do not look any better in Serie A, where Juventus have only collected 13 points in nine games.
Juventus are currently 10 points behind leaders Napoli and seven below Lazio, Udinese and Milan in fourth.
What makes their derby task even trickier today is that they’ve never won away this season, collecting four defeats and two draws against Sampdoria and Fiorentina, not exactly the most in-form teams in Italy’s flight.
The Serie A giants have conceded eight goals away from home so far, scoring just two, one against Fiorentina and the other one with PSG in their Champions League debut this term.
However, looking backwards could give them hope, as Max Allegri’s men were perhaps in a more difficult situation in 2015-16 when they had a worse start to the season with 12 points in the opening nine Serie A matches.
A late win in a derby della Mole (played at the Allianz Stadium at that time) was the turning point in their campaign. Juventus went on to win 15 league games in a row and eventually won their second Scudetto under the Tuscan tactician.
It was a very different Juventus at that time but, as they say, hope is the last to die.
