Igor Tudor reveals Verona should’ve been prepared for the two Napoli goals, but he is above all irritated the harsh red card ‘took away the possibility’ for them to equalise.

This was one of the most disappointing Hellas performances of the season, as they rarely threatened until the final 20 minutes.

Victor Osimhen scored two goals, both of them after throw-ins caught the Verona defenders napping.

Marco Davide Faraoni got one back, but Federico Ceccherini and Faraoni then saw red.

“Napoli played well, they did better on the day, we had a few problems this week with some injuries and illness,” Tudor told DAZN.

“What we did today was not enough, because to get points you need four or five players going above and beyond the call of duty.

“We conceded two goals from throw-ins. Imagine, we worked on these situations in training during the week, so evidently we need to work harder!”

Just as Hellas had woken up and got a goal back, they went down to 10 men for a harsh second yellow card on Ceccherini for handball.

“I am just sad about the reds, because the second yellow card for Ceccherini was non-existent, it came at a time when we were fighting back and it’s a pity the referee took away that possibility.”

Verona are now comfortably mid-table, but ultimately don’t have a particular target to push for in these closing weeks of the season.

“As I said before this game, there is no greater motivation than going out there and showing you are better than the opponent. That has to be the motivation for all players at all levels.

“I find it a little absurd talking about it, because you always need to feel motivated and I see no reason why we shouldn’t.”
