Thomas Tuchel is set to make a surprise omission from the Bayern Munich line-up against Lazio in the Champions League on Tuesday night, as former Napoli defender Kim Min-jae is expected to be left out in favour of England international Eric Dier.

According to information from German outlet Bild, Kim was not part of the ‘A’ team that took part in Tuchel’s final training session in Bavaria, and that January recruit Dier took his place in the pre-match drills.

The 2022-23 Scudetto winner is still Bayern’s most consistently called-upon centre–back this season, but after a shock 2-2 draw with Freiburg in the Bundesliga at the weekend, Tuchel is expected to make a few changes.

Alongside Dier at the heart of the Bayern defence will be former Juventus centre-back Mathijs De Ligt. The Dutchman had been absent from the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico two weeks ago through the accumulation of yellow cards.

This time around, Dayot Upamecano misses out through suspension, having seen red in the 67th minute of the first leg two weeks ago.

Kick-off at the Allianz Arena is scheduled for 20.00 GMT.
