It is increasingly likely that Lazio could be up against a different coach – potentially Jose Mourinho – in the Champions League, as Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich lost again.
The Germans were beaten 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 on Wednesday, as Ciro Immobile converted a penalty.
Curiously, Dayot Upamecano was sent off in that match and he also saw red in today’s 3-2 Bundesliga defeat to struggling Bochum.
The setback has left Bayern Munich eight points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen and it was their third consecutive defeat in all competition.
According to multiple reports, including Sky Sports Deutschland and pundit Fabrizio Romano, the intention had been to give Tuchel more time, but that is changing in the light of such disastrous results.
The second leg of the Champions League clash with Lazio is in Munich on March 5 and by that time it is entirely possible Bayern will have a different coach in charge.
Curiously, the favourite is Mourinho, who was sacked by Roma last month.
⚠️ FC Bayern with their third consecutive defeat now – tonight in Bochum (2:3). Now eight (!) points behind Leverkusen with still 14 games remaining.
