Napoli defender Axel Tuanzebe may be able to feature for his new club in their upcoming match against Sampdoria on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Englishman’s contract has been deposited by the Partenopei already and he has officially joined the club on a six-month loan deal and his arrival is key for coach Luciano Spalletti, who has been dealing with a shortage of defenders following Kostas Manolas’ move to Olympiacos.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Tuanzebe is only waiting for the Italian consulate to process the final paperwork for his visa, and once that’s completed he’ll be able to join up with Spalletti’s squad, making him available for Sunday evening’s match against Sampdoria.

The 24-year-old English centre back made 11 appearances this season for Aston Villa, for a total of 685 minutes. In that time, he picked up one yellow card and helped the team keep four clean sheets, but fell out of favour with coach Steven Gerrard.
