The Czech Republic title holders were very impressive at San Siro, had taken the lead through Peter Olayinka and had threatened to add more goals before a stoppage-time Nicolò Barella equaliser.
“We would’ve deserved to take all three points, but unfortunately we only come away with one,” the Slavia Prague Coach said in a Press conference.
“I am nonetheless proud of my players for their performance. We could’ve extended our lead with another goal and played so well, while the fans were also marvellous.
“Of course, we are disappointed, but in the last 10 minutes we didn’t do enough. We played with ‘balls’ throughout and did what we needed to against a side that has a lot of quality. I compliment my defenders, as they did very well to keep Lukaku quiet, a player who cost as much as our entire squad put together.”
Considering Barcelona were held 0-0 by Borussia Dortmund, could Slavia Prague think about qualifying for the Round of 16?
“Let’s keep our heads on our shoulders. It was marvellous today and we played very well, but I am just disappointed to have been six minutes away from a huge achievement.
“Inter are giants of the sport. We had players hungry for success and who spent hours watching the videos to learn where Inter start their moves. We also needed a little luck, as they could’ve scored in the first half.”
