“I can only thank Genoa, here I found what I truly needed, on and off the pitch: trust, enthusiasm and warmness,” wrote Zappacosta, who is set to return to Chelsea.

“Thank you for waiting for me at the beginning of the season. We fought hard and gained survival, giving our best every day.

“Thanks, everyone, Camilla and I felt at home, I leave a part of myself here.”

“I immediately understood, coming here was the right decision,” wrote Strootman.

“This year, I lost my biggest and closest supporter, my dear mum. She would have loved to come to Marassi to see me play with my new team. It was a difficult moment for my family and it still is. Thanks everyone for your help. I managed to remain stand and continue to play football. I will never forget your support.

“I am grateful for the opportunity you gave me, when nobody believed in me. It’s a pity I could not play in a sold-out Marassi, but I hope all the fans will return soon to support this extraordinary club.”

Perin posted a picture with all his former teammates at Genoa’s training ground.

“My biggest victory is to be perceived as ‘Matti’, one of you. Thank you, Genoa, thank you Genovesi, once again," he wrote.

“I return to Turin with my family, I am happy and aware that I gave my best. Now, I am waiting to know what the future has in store for me, without ruling anything out.”
