New AIA President Alfredo Trentalange confirms Milan were rightly awarded a penalty kick against Roma for a Federico Fazio foul on Davide Calabria.

“The rule is clear. The step on foot is a foul, even if it’s difficult to be spotted,” Trentalange, who was named new AIA President last week, told Radio Anch’io lo sport.

“We can discuss whether the rule is right or not, but it’s surely very clear,” he added.

Trentalange hopes women referees can be appointed for Serie A games within two years.

“We are behind, but we are getting ready. We want to support the women who are demonstrating that they are up to the task,” Trentalange said.

“They must be considered and I hope there can be an acceleration in this regard. My dream is to make it happen in two years.”

Daniele Orsato spoke to Italian TV program Novanteismo Minuto on Sunday.

“It was an important moment, now we must reflect on the future, but it’s a good start. We are not as good at communicating. We are better at refereeing, but it’s good for everyone to know the match officials better.”
